When we explained that we could not afford that, the director said we could skip the embalming which would shave a tiny bit off the price, but would require us to have him buried within a day or two of passing. The whole conversation felt like we were dealing with a used car salesman. I called around Gonzales and found similar outrageous price, and one director explained that O’Bannon and most others in Gonzales and Yoakum are all owned by the same company, so the price will be the same at most places. Do yourself a favor and go to the Harris Funeral Home in Gonzales - it is private, family owned business. When we explained our situation, the owner Mr. Harris gave my dad a beautiful, dignified graveside service for almost 65% cheaper than what O'Bannon and all the others offered. Mr. Harris also didn’t constantly try to upsell us on every little thing like O’Bannon. What a disappointing and gross experience we had during our appointment at O’Bannon. Not only are the prices criminal, but it just felt cold and impersonal.
